I created this painting from my imagination with a goal to create a peaceful, nature setting. It is part of a semi-abstract, tonal, minimalist series I am creating.
As I usually do, I began by applying the paint and developed the scene as I went along. I must say, that this particular painting was an exercise in frustration for me, as no less than four or five times, I almost gave up completely on the work exasperated and was this far from taking my large brush and deconstructing the entire piece, before stopping myself each time. However, the small voice from within me, convinced me to keep moving forward, and so I did. After pushing, scraping, scratching, smudging, scumbling and outright coercing the paint to work with me, I tortured this painting enough to a point where I was satisfied. Phew….that was a wrestling match!
